2024年5月13日、キリスト教／ローマ教皇フランシスコ聖下（His Holiness Pope Francis）は、インドのキリスト教／ローマ・カトリック教会／東方典礼カトリック教会／シリア・マラバル東方典礼カトリック教会（シロ＝マラバル東方典礼カトリック教会）首座／エルナクラム＝アンガマリー首位大司教“マル”・ラファエル・タッティル座下（His Beatitude Archbishop MarRaphael Thattil, Major Archbishop of Ernakulam-Angamaly）ら、同教会の聖職者らと会見しました。

同大司教区の教区長は、東インド諸島総大司教／ゴア・ダマン大司教フィリペ・ネリ・アントニオ・セバスティアン・ド・ロザリオ・フェラン枢機卿座下（His Eminence Filipe Neri António Sebastião do Rosário Cardinal Ferrão, Archbishop of Goa and Daman, Patriarch of East Indies）で、補佐司教となったフェルナンデス司祭は（協働司教ではありませんが）将来的に同大司教区と総大司教座を継承する可能性もあります。

The Holy Father has appointed the Reverend Simiao Purificaçao Fernandes of the clergy of Goa and Damão, India, until now director of the Saint Pius X Pastoral Institute, as auxiliary bishop of the same archdiocese, assigning him the titular see of Salde.

2024年1月～2月、キリスト教／オリエント正教会／シリア正教会の首座／アンティオキア・東方全土総主教“モラン”・“モル”・“イグナティウス”・アフレム2世聖下（His Holiness Moran MorIgnatius Aphrem II, the Patriarch of Antioch and All the East, the Supreme Head of the Universal Syriac Orthodox Church）のインド司牧訪問がおこなわれています。
2024年1月9日、シリア・マラバル東方典礼カトリック教会の聖シノドスは、シャムシャバード司教ラファエル・タッティル座下（Bishop Raphael Thattil, Bishop of Shamshabad）を新たな首座・エルナクラム＝アンガマリー首位大司教に選出しました。
座下の選出は予想されていなかったことであり、現地では意外に受け止められています。
翌2024年1月10日、ローマ教皇フランシスコ聖下（His Holiness Pope Francis）は、同教会による座下の選出を承認。
これにより、ラファエル・タッティル座下は、シリア・マラバル東方典礼カトリック教会の首座・エルナクラム＝アンガマリー首位大司教となると同時に、エルナクラム＝アンガマリー大司教区の教区長となります（His Beatitude Archbishop MarRaphael Thattil, Major Archbishop of Ernakulam-Angamaly）。
同大司教区の教区付きのセバスティアン・ヴァニヤプラッカル司教座下（Bishop MarSebastian Vaniyapurackal, Archiepiscopal Administrator of Ernakulam-Angamaly, Administrator of Syro-Malabar Church, Titular Bishop of Troyna）は、首位大司教の代行として、同教会の首座代行となっていましたが、この役割は終了となったとみてよいと思われます。
しかしローマ教皇聖座の発表によれば、使徒座管理であるボスコ・プサー司教（Bishop MarBosco Puthur, Apostolic Administrator of Ernakulam-Angamaly）は、使徒座管理として職に留まります。これの理由は不明ですが、同教会内部での伝統を巡る争いなどが終結していないことが一因なのか……？
