キリスト教／首席枢機卿にジョヴァンニ・バッティスタ・レ枢機卿座下、次席枢機卿にローマ教皇庁東方教会省長官レオナルド・サンドリ座下が選出（2020年1月）

　2020年1月18日、枢機卿団はアンジェロ・ソダーノ枢機卿座下の辞任により空位になっていた首席枢機卿に、次席枢機卿ジョヴァンニ・バッティスタ・レ枢機卿座下（His Eminence Giovanni Battista Cardinal Re）を選出、ローマ教皇フランシスコ聖下はこれを承認しました。レ枢機卿座下は同時にオスティア枢機卿名義司教となっています。85歳。

　また、次席枢機卿のレ座下が首席枢機卿に選出されたことにより、次席枢機卿が空位となりました。
　2020年1月24日、枢機卿団はローマ教皇庁東方教会省長官レオナルド・サンドリ枢機卿座下（His Eminence Leonardo Cardinal Sandri, Prefect of the Congregation for the Oriental Churches）を次席枢機卿に選出、ローマ教皇フランシスコ聖下はこれを承認しました。

On 18 January 2020 the Holy Father approved the election – by the cardinals of the Order of Bishops – of the dean of the College of Cardinals, in the person of His Eminence Cardinal Giovanni Battista Re, of the Title of the Suburbicarian Church of Sabina-Poggio Mirteto, who will also assume the Title of the Suburbicarian Church of Ostia.

Likewise on 24 January 2020, the Supreme Pontiff approved the election of the deputy dean of the same College, in the person of His Eminence Cardinal Leonardo Sandri, of the Title of Santi Biagio e Carlo ai Catinari, prefect of the Congregation for the Oriental Churches.

キリスト教／ローマ教皇フランシスコ聖下が、アンジェロ・ソダーノ枢機卿座下の首席枢機卿辞任を承諾（2019年12月）教皇自発教令により、今後、首席枢機卿は任期五年・再任可能となる模様

　2019年12月21日、キリスト教／ローマ・カトリック教会／ローマ教皇フランシスコ聖下（ローマ法王台下 ： His Holiness Pope Francis）は、アンジェロ・ソダーノ枢機卿座下（His Eminence Angelo Cardinal Sodano）の首席枢機卿辞任の申し出を承諾しました。
　同枢機卿は2005年より首席枢機卿の地位にありました。

　教皇自発教令により、以降、首席枢機卿は、任期五年・再任可能な役職となる模様です。
