　2018年4月27日、ローマ教皇聖座駐箚ドイツ連邦共和国特命全権大使として赴任しているアンネッテ・シャーヴァン閣下（アネッテ・シャバーン元大臣 ： Annette Schavan）が、マルタ騎士団の“フラー”・ジャコモ・ダッラ・トッレ・デル・テンピオ・ディ・サングイネット副長（総長代行 ： The Lieutenant of the Grand Master, Frà Giacomo Dalla Torre del Tempio di Sanguinetto）に信任状を捧呈した模様です。

　ドイツ連邦共和国とマルタ騎士団は、2017年11月に外交関係を樹立しています。

第80代マルタ騎士団総長に、ジャコモ・ダッラ・トッレ・デル・テンピオ・ディ・サングイネット副長が選出される（2018年5月）

　2018年5月2日、マルタ騎士団は、本部官邸にて総長または代行を選出する評議会をおこない、“フラー”・ジャコモ・ダッラ・トッレ・デル・テンピオ・ディ・サングイネット副長（総長代行 ： The Lieutenant of the Grand Master, Frà Giacomo Dalla Torre del Tempio di Sanguinetto）を第80代マルタ騎士団総長に選出した模様です。
　これまで任期1年の副長として務めてきましたが、終身の総長となります。

マルタ騎士団副長（総長代行）が、アルメニア大統領セルジ・サルグシャン閣下と会見（2018年4月）

　2018年4月5日、マルタ騎士団の“フラー”・ジャコモ・ダッラ・トッレ・デル・テンピオ・ディ・サングイネット副長（総長代行 ： The Lieutenant of the Grand Master, Frà Giacomo Dalla Torre del Tempio di Sanguinetto）は騎士団宮殿にて、バチカン庭園の「ナレクの聖グレゴリオ像」の除幕などのために同地を訪問したアルメニア共和国大統領セルジ・サルグシャン閣下（His Excellency Mr Serzh Sargsyan ： セルジ・サルキシャン）と会見しました。

※セルジ・サルグシャン閣下は間もなく任期を終了し、大統領職はアルメン・サルグシャン閣下が継承します。

「The Dictator Pope」（独裁者ローマ教皇）という書名のローマ教皇フランシスコ聖下批判の本の著者が自分だと明かしたヘンリー・サイアー氏がマルタ騎士団から団員資格停止処分に（2018年3月）

　昨年12月に、「The Dictator Pope」（独裁者ローマ教皇）という書籍が出ているのですが、この書物がキリスト教／ローマ・カトリック教会の首座／ローマ教皇聖座およびバチカン市国の絶対君主／ローマ教皇フランシスコ聖下（His Holiness Pope Francis）をアルゼンチン共和国の大統領だったこともある故ファン・ペロン氏（Juan Perón）の政治手法を重ねるなど、聖下に対して批判的なものだったらしいです。
※ペロン氏に対しては評価がわかれていますが、少なくともこの本自体はペロン氏＝独裁者という図式の上で、その手法を聖下と重ねているのでしょう（読んでいないので詳細は知りませんが）。

　そして著者がペンネームを用いていたのですが、このほどヘンリー・サイアー（Henry Sire）という人物が、自分が著者であると発言し、それに対してマルタ騎士団はサイアー氏の団員資格停止処分と調査の開始をアナウンスしています。

　2016年末からの騒動で、当時のマルタ騎士団総長マシュー・フェスティング殿下は（フランシスコ聖下によって）辞任に追い込まれましたが、その後の総長選挙（2017年）でマルタ騎士団は総長（終身）を選出できず、任期一年の“フラー”・ジャコモ・ダッラ・トッレ・デル・テンピオ・ディ・サングイネット副長（総長代行 ： The Lieutenant of the Grand Master, Frà Giacomo Dalla Torre del Tempio di Sanguinetto）を選出したのみです。内部分裂は明らか。
　今年の選挙は5月ですが、今回の一件は、マルタ騎士団内部にある程度の勢力をもっていると思われる、「フランシスコ聖下による『内政干渉』『国際法違反』によって主権実体であるマルタ騎士団の主権が脅かされている」という考えの一端ではないかとも思われます。
※団員資格停止処分になったままだと総長選挙には投票できないと思いますけど。

　2018年3月20日、マルタ騎士団の“フラー”・ジャコモ・ダッラ・トッレ・デル・テンピオ・ディ・サングイネット副長（総長代行 ： The Lieutenant of the Grand Master, Frà Giacomo Dalla Torre del Tempio di Sanguinetto）は騎士団宮殿にて、新任のマルタ騎士団駐箚セルビア共和国特命全権大使デヤン・シャホヴィッチ閣下（His Excellency Dejan Šahović）を接受、信任状の捧呈を受けました。

　シャホヴィッチ閣下は、ローマ教皇聖座と兼轄の模様。
